Message from the President
To inspire our volunteers and members to read and analyze the news, I am asking you to focus on the project management profession insights that will shape how we conduct ourselves as leaders in the United States of America.
For example; when you read about 'government agency failures' or 'large organization financial losses', this news is most often related to a failure to provide leadership or shortfalls to maintain adequate skilled and trained employees, as well as the lack of leadership visionaries to improve an organizations technology infrastructure or a miss in the adoption of new strategic technologies.
But the most critical factors that we don’t understand and consider are the global factors, which we sometimes either ignore or don’t believe our businesses would not be impacted by. Some of our own organizations move slower than their international peers. As such, project management skills play an integral role in transforming the traditional business environment from its current state into a more competitive participant in the existing connected global economy. We are not alone on this planet, but together our project management knowledge and skills can have a deep and lasting effect in all local economic sectors.
The Chapter has reduced the cost to attend our events to enable you to participate more frequently and added more dispersed meeting locations to improve our reach. Keep checking back as we add more topics to cover what you recommend, as we continuously strive to adjust and increase member value and privileges.
My call of action to you, is to guide us on what you seek to learn, seek in skills training, seek to improve your career and enable yourself to be better positioned to lead in the global economy. Please look at what our Chapter offerings are at pmi-mn.org. Here you will find events, seminars, webinars, web streaming and information about our Professional Development Days. Please share with us! The PMI-MN Board welcomes your recommendations as it enables us to improve our strategic and competitive edge.
