Message from the Chapter President

Volunteers are the Backbone of Chapter Success

Dear Members,

As we settle into 2016, the Board of Directors is busy with strategic initiatives for the Minnesota Chapter. Our focus this year is on enhancing value for our members. Our initiatives include broadening our monthly member activities, increasing our chapter visibility through an expanded social media presence and developing content for the website, and participating in more community outreach events. We are also looking at improving volunteer engagement and creating a leadership career path for volunteers. Look for small changes over the next several months as we try out new ideas, with a full roll-out of new programs in 2017. In addition to our breakfast and dinner meetings, we will be piloting a lunch-time networking session in downtown Minneapolis. We will also be investigating web streaming the certification exam prep classes for delivery outside the Twin Cities metro area. Got an idea you would like to share? We will soon launch a monthly survey on the website home page asking for feedback on a variety of topics throughout the year.

If you would like to be a part of these changes, stop by the Volunteer Fair at the February 22 Dinner Meeting. There are opportunities available at every level of involvement, with most requiring 5-10 hours a month of your time.

SAVE THE DATE: Annual Business Meeting

Join us Monday, March 21, 6:30 pm, prior to the monthly PMI Dinner speaker presentation, for the presentation of the published annual report with the organization’s mission, programs, officers, and financial status. We will also publish it digitally, on the website, after that date.

Saturday Seminar

Looking for PDUs? Our first Saturday Seminar is an excellent way to network with project leaders and earn four PDUs. We are kicking off the year with a half-day session on Saturday, February 27 on how to recognize and address bullying behavior as a risk to your project.

Continental breakfast and a box lunch will be provided, and all attendees will receive a copy of speaker Paul Pelletier’s book “Workplace Bullying – It’s Just Bad for Business.”

Welcome newcomers and current members! PMI-MN offers a new member orientation session starting at 6:00 pm before each month’s Chapter dinner meeting.

You don’t actually need to be a new member—or a member at all—to attend this orientation session! This is a great way to check out the Chapter. If you haven’t been to many Chapter events (or it’s been a long time), come and get re-acquainted with what our Chapter is all about!
