Message from the President
Dear Members,
Wow! Saturday the 5th was a trifecta of summer delight for our members. We had a bicycling “team” of sorts in the Tour de Tonka, with both Geraldine Marks and Jerry Gomes of our Board of Directors pedaling. We had our team at the annual Paint-A-Thon lead by our indomitable Dan Hill. And we had our chapter Picnic for family and friends, with kids and games throughout. And it was a beautiful day to boot, with plenty of sunshine until 6pm (when, like clockwork it began to rain). So thanks to all that joined in the fun – what a great day! [photos attached]
Next up for summer fun is our Saints game on August 18th. What better way to have fun than a traditional baseball game? Your tickets include the game, plenty of food and beverages, and spectacular fireworks! And CHS Feld is downtown St Paul within easy walking distance of the Green Line LRT. We have our Dinner program on the 21st after a short recess during July. As you know, the dinner and speaker cap a set of free programs: Communities of Practice (separate PrC tracks for Healthcare, Manufacturing and Agile), Career Networking and New Member Orientation. Professional Development follows the next day, and a webinar the day after. Professional Development Days (PDD) is only a few weeks later, with some great discounts still available this month. With lots more to come - quite the kick-off! [https://www.pmi-mn.org/PMI-MN_Events_Calendar]
With all the fun, don’t forget that version 6 of the PMBOK is coming out. If you are looking at getting your PMP or CAPM certificate, it is time to act now. An updated PMBOK means an updated exam. While we all study the changes to the PMBOK, it’s a bit easier to take the test you prepared for. Our knowledgeable trainers will help you during PDD in the last PMP Certification Exam Prep Class to feature the PMBOK® Guide Fifth Edition. You’ll study under the tutelage of experienced industry professionals, develop your peer network and find some study buddies to help you cross over the threshold and pass your exam. To register for the PMP / CAPM certification classes held during PDD, click on the PDD link and register for PDD, then select the class from the menu. Speaking of PDD [https://www.pmi-mn.org/content/professional-development-days], did you know we offer three days of education classes capped by a full-day Symposium with multiple tracks and a Vendor Fair? What a great opportunity to catch up on PDUs for your PMI accreditation, network with local professionals, and acquire tons of practical tips and tricks.
Where else can you get this much fun, career assistance and professional development?
