KNOWLEDGE LOSS HAPPENS. 
All organizations lose good people. Whether through layoffs, attrition or retirement, they all must deal with the fact that even their most knowledgeable employees will someday leave. Although this is a sensitive issue, organizations must have a plan to retain this knowledge. 
Kelly will describe the journey Medtronic has undertaken to retain valuable knowledge within the organization, including knowledge transfer practices, databases, & on-boarding practices in place to keep as much valuable knowledge in the organization as possible

Kellie started with Medtronic in 2000. In her 16 years at Medtronic her passions and work have always led her into roles where she is influencing or leading large organizational change initiatives including; 
• Centralization of the Shared Services IT organization globally
• Development of a comprehensive Knowledge Management program in R & D
• Tacit knowledge transfer processes 
• Introduced the first enterprise wide search tool for managing explicit knowledge 
• Centralization of Core Quality Services within the Cardiac and Vascular Group 
• Built the Quality Training department and created an LMS center of excellence
• Led the harmonization and governance of the Quality Management System across 31 manufacturing and design sites in CVG. The QMS harmonization success in CVG is now being leveraged across the rest of Medtronic whereby the QMS architecture, processes, governance and best practices are being applied globally. All the while Kellie has utilized knowledge management principles in each role to build additional best practices and more importantly share her knowledge more broadly across Medtronic.

Kellie attended St. Cloud State University for her undergraduate degree in Business Management and earned her Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul Minnesota. She has a husband and two children and in her free time likes to spend it with family, attending or playing in sporting events or relaxing at their lake home.
