Securian Financial’s Internal Consulting team is looking for an experienced consultant to lead change management and strategic initiatives for our technology transformation. In this role, you would be part of a dynamic team of consultants who manage the company’s top initiatives, providing change/program management and consulting support to assist senior leaders in achieving their strategic goals and objectives.


What you would do in this job: 


1. Independently lead and consult on complex, top-priority technology transformation projects, programs, recommendations and implementations.

  • Partners with technology and business area senior executives to understand and prioritize business goals and needs to drive results.
  • Assesses benefits and impact of programs; develops and implements benefits realization plans, stakeholder management plans, governance approaches and program infrastructure.
  • Communicates across strategies, programs and projects with key stakeholders.
  • Leads, or consults on, the development and execution of change management efforts where adoption of the change is crucial for meeting business objectives.

2. Contributes to continuously evolving the internal consulting capabilities and services to meet the strategic project and consulting needs of the compan

  • Understands the highest priority enterprise strategies, projects and programs through interaction with senior management utilizing an understanding of business issues, financial services and enterprise goals.
  • Identifies emerging needs for consulting practices and works with the team to develop the practice area.
  • Advances techniques such as business architecture, PPM tools, Agile, project management, etc. within Management Services and the broader Securian enterprise.
  • Interfaces with and coordinates efforts of cross division, Corporate and ET associates who are involved in supporting enterprise strategic business goals.

What we'd expect from you:

  1. Past experience managing complex change efforts for technology transformation initiatives.
  2. Strong consulting skills, including: facilitation of large meetings/complex issues, change management and developing sound recommendations based on effective research.
  3. Solid written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with various levels of management/associates, technology and internal and external partners/vendors.
  4. Excellent management, organizational, planning and prioritization skills to organize and manage complex projects and programs. Ability to define projects and programs and develop approaches. Proven project management and negotiation skills to lead and direct project and program teams, determine priorities, assign resources and meet project timeframes.
  5. Proven presentation skills to communicate business and technical strategies to senior executives, business area management, internal stakeholders, and vendors.
  6. Ability to drive effort, engagement, interpersonal dynamics and results through matrix management.
  7. Analytical and creative problem solving skills.
